As a core waterfront area of Qingdao, the project requires an integrated upgrade of the city’s historical character, ground and underground transportation systems, tourism facilities, as well as landscape tour routes and sightlines.
The design aims to highlight the charm of this historic city and elevate the gateway image of Qingdao Bay.
The design concept features a contrast between the open and spacious plaza and the serene, tranquil park. It adopts the idea of a composite three-dimensional city, connecting above-ground, ground and underground spaces. By integrating the area’s historical and cultural traits, the design creates a high-quality, sea-accessible, vibrant, ecological and livable coastal space, alongside intelligent, safe and efficient transportation and service facilities.
